Description:

UHCL is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Zumba Group Fitness Instructor to lead energetic and engaging classes for our growing community. The ideal candidate will inspire participants of all fitness levels to embrace movement, promote a positive atmosphere, and enhance the overall fitness experience.

Duties:

• Class Instruction: Lead Zumba classes that incorporate a variety of music styles and choreography, ensuring a fun and motivating environment.
• Participant Engagement: Foster a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants to enjoy themselves and stay committed to their fitness goals.
• Class Planning: Develop and organize class routines that cater to different skill levels and abilities, ensuring safety and inclusivity.
• Fitness Assessments: Assess participants’ fitness levels and provide modifications and progressions to accommodate individual needs.
• Community Building: Create a supportive community among participants, promoting camaraderie and encouragement.
• Feedback & Improvement: Solicit feedback from participants to continually improve class offerings and enhance participant experience.
• Promote Wellness: Advocate for overall health and wellness, encouraging participants to integrate fitness into their daily lives.
• Maintain Equipment: Ensure all equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and in good working condition.
• Stay Updated: Keep current with Zumba trends and fitness industry standards through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications:

  1. Certification: Current Zumba instructor certification (Zumba Basic, Zumba Gold, or specialty certifications).
  2. Experience: Previous experience teaching group fitness classes is preferred.
  3. Passion for Fitness: A genuine enthusiasm for fitness and helping others achieve their health goals.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire participants
  5. Adaptability: Ability to adjust routines based on class dynamics and participant feedback.
  6. CPR/AED Certification: Current CPR and AED certification is a plus. If not certified, be willing to be certified within six weeks via UHCL Campus Recreation.
