JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Dean of College of Business Graduate Programs oversees and provides senior leadership support to the college graduate programs. Leads through a visionary approach to outreach, enrollment growth, student progression, advisement, customer service, and community presence. Oversight to include the admissions process, recruitment, student activities, and internship/career placement. Coordinates and collaborates with the faculty on the development and implementation of the college graduate programs to ensure consistency of policies and procedures within and across programs. Leads college efforts to effectively align college graduate programs with existing industry needs. The Associate Dean for Graduate Studies also leads the maintenance and currency of graduate programs through faculty shared governance processes, and partners with the dean and with advancement to generate and realize opportunities with community supporters.
DUTIES
- Oversees and supports marketing and recruitment strategies to attract high-quality students to the graduate programs
- Interacts and collaborates with members of the community and wider industry to advance the graduate programs
- Oversees corporate fellows program staff, graduate program coordination staff leadership, and graduate advisors
- Leads and supports college maintenance of curriculum and new graduate curriculum efforts, in shared governance with departmental faculty and UHD’s policies and procedures
- Manages graduate program staff and graduate advisors
- Develops the community presence of MDCOB graduate programs
- Leads and supervises the enrollment growth efforts for new and existing graduate programs in the college
- Cultivates a positive, collegial, and effective staff culture within the graduate offices
- Represents the college’s graduate programs in relevant shared governance processes across the university

- Makes final decision on granting time off
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education:
Required Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of job-related experience
License/Certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in academic administration, such as Associate Dean, Department Chair, or Assistant Department Chair, or an interim or acting position of these types
- Experience building programs and growing program enrollment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position, higher education operating norms
Skills:
- Candidates must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Skills in managing projects and processes, and supervisory skills
- Expertise in building culture and employee behavior
- Marketing, Sales, or sales management skills are very helpful
Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate with and lead a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a university community
WORK LOCATION AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical interior work environment, which does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements
- The individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing, etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
- Must have precise hand-eye coordination, good spatial awareness, and the ability to identify and distinguish colors
