Description:
Supervises the Digital Programming editing section, and functions as the chief editor, postproduction specialist and videographer.
1. Develops concepts, organizes, records and edits video productions to achieve desired promotional objectives.
2. Functions as producer and/or director on video projects by evaluation project objectives and target audience, operating within program format and content to attain desired goals, and staying within budget, time and facility limitations.
3. Interacts with writers, graphic designers, production crews and other participants involved in multiple productions.
4. Works with a variety of clients, including University administrators, students, faculty and staff, as well as various constituencies, project participants and other professional electronic media members, and the general public.
5. Promotes a positive image of the University that conforms to the University's mission through the creation of video and audio content and through professional appearance, actions, and interaction with project constituents and general public.
6. Exercises creative and technical decision-making during the production of single and multi-camera presentation by analyzing projects for artistic, technical time, material and budgeting requirements.
7. Facilitates media production by participating in the construction or modification of sets for studio productions, selecting and lighting suitable settings for location productions, setting up troubleshooting, and operating media equipment or assisting with the staging and presentation of productions on and off campus.
8. Facilitates an efficient office operation by assisting with maintaining files of productions, graphics, and special effects keeping records of expenses, supplies, and other associated costs, and providing required reports of production costs and inventories as directed.
9. Ensures the operational condition of departmental equipment by performing repairs, set-ups, and preventive maintenance as appropriate.
10. Helps ensure that production equipment is technologically up-to-date and meets the needs of the department by researching, evaluation, and recommending equipment purchases.
11. Supports and coordinates the Web, social media and Marketing teams, and ensures that the online media sites are organized, up-to-date and meeting audience needs and client objectives.
12. Contributes to work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, ad development of skills to engage with those other cutlers or backgrounds
13. Remain abreast and current through self-directed professional reading, developing contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and /or courses required by the supervisor.
14. Reports to the Director of Media Relations and contributes to the overall success of the Digital Programming unit.
15. Provides judgment and discretion in planning, organizing and directing assigned media productions within general guidelines and objective and work closely with the department staff on common production projects.
16. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

The C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston is seeking a talented and creative Videographer to join its dynamic Office of Communications team.
This position is integral to supporting the college’s internal and external communications, marketing, advertising, social media, public relations and creative services. The ideal candidate is a skilled visual storyteller with a passion for capturing moments that showcase the energy, innovation and excellence of Bauer College students, faculty, staff, alumni, partners and programs.
The ideal candidate will have strong skills in short-form video production, capturing live events and producing editorial content for various platforms. This position plays a key role in creating compelling video collateral for Bauer social media, website, email communications, in-house digital signage and marketing/advertising campaigns.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Further, successful candidates will effectively communicate with all levels of management and fellow employees and be able to manage multiple stakeholder relationships.
Position includes the following responsibilities but not limited to:
1. Video Production & Editing: Produce, shoot, and edit high-quality video content for use across digital and social media platforms, including promotional materials, print and digital ads, the biannual college magazine, the college website, email communications and other collateral.
2. Creative Short-Form Video Development: Develop creative, short-form videos that align with social media trends and best practices, leveraging video aspects of platforms such as Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.
3. Event Coverage & Filming: Capture footage of key events, speeches and presentations across the college.
4. Collaboration with Teams: Collaborate with communications, marketing, multimedia and social media staff to create videos that align with strategic goals and enhance storytelling.
5. Brand Consistency & Quality Control: Ensure all video content reflects the college's brand and maintains high production standards.
6. Asset Management: Manage and organize video assets, including raw footage, edited content and archival material.
7. Industry Trends & Innovation: Stay up to date with video production trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve video content.
Preferences:
• Proven experience in videography, including shooting, editing and producing video content.
• Expertise in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of social media video formats, trends, and audience engagement strategies.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in shooting live events, as well as creating high-quality, polished content for marketing and editorial purposes.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for storytelling through video.
• Experience in higher education or corporate photography.
• Knowledge of video production and editing.
• Experience with motion graphics or animation is a plus.
• Familiarity with DSLR and other video equipment, including lighting and audio gear.
• Knowledge of video optimization for social media platforms.
• Proficiency in portrait photography, headshots, and event coverage, with the ability to complement video content through high-quality still imagery.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline.
