Department: Continuing Education (Located at the Amegy Bank Building)  Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education

Description:

Temporary Exempt Staff Benefits Eligible staff will oversees the development, administration, and support of Continuing Education programs and events. Key responsibilities include organizing workshops, conducting outreach to build partnerships, supporting vendors and students, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to program development. The role also involves promoting community engagement, ensuring adherence to university and state policies, and supporting leadership and staff within the CE department.

Duties

  • Develops and manages administrative projects and comprehensive program activities, orientations, workshops, and events for existing Continuing Education programming and for new proposals
  • Performs outreach to local professionals and organizations to build partnerships that will assist the Office of Continuing Education to provide quality programming that addresses community needs
  • Provides vendor, partner, and student support resources as required for existing programming; helps to determine needs for new programming
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and student support offices across campus to increase the accessibility of programming that might be of particular interest to students, faculty, and/or university staff
  • Collaborates with entities outside the university to make them aware of OCE events and classes that may be of particular interest to their populations and communities
  • Suggests/recommends/organizes events, individual courses, and serial courses for all areas of Continuing Education; assists with outreach in publicizing events
  • Directs program-related events to promote a sense of belonging for the community, attendees, and participants, and to encourage repeat participation
  • Attends and may coordinate meetings; serves on and advises internal and external committees and councils as appropriate
  • Interprets and clarifies Academic Affairs and university policies and procedures, plus attends to best practice for university level contemporary continuing education for students, faculty, staff, and the greater community
  • Brings ideas and suggestions to leadership for new content (including development suggestions/recommendations) and for adapting existing content
  • Follows Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board policies as they apply to Continuing Education as necessary
  • Provides high-level support for the program leadership and provides support to other staff as necessary in a collegial environment
  • Awareness of best university business practices with contracts, finance, and registration software

Marginal Duties 

  • Occasionally must be flexible in work schedule (for example, an evening event or a weekend event) 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • May supervise full-time and part-time employees; may supervise student employees and work/study employees

  • May regularly assign work to subordinate(s)

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of the management of a continuing education program in a higher education environment, and of the related trends, issues, and accepted practices
  • Knowledge of the function and operations of the specific program
  • Appreciation for regular assessment of content and of program 
 
Skills: 
  • Good technical skills, including proficiency in MS Office (including Excel, PowerPoint [or other presentation software], and Publisher [or similar software)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
  • Understanding of outreach media such as SurveyMonkey and Constant Contact or similar
  • Good leadership skills

  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse university and the greater regional community 
 
Qualifications 

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree 

Required Experience: 

  • Minimum of four (4) years of job-related experience 

License/Certification: 

  • None required 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Post bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience with broad-based Continuing Education programming
  • Certified Meeting Professional
