Description:
Provides mental health and/or learning support services to the campus community, including one or more of the following services: individual, couples and group counseling and therapy; crisis intervention; consultation and outreach services; psychological assessments; learning strategies counseling; academic support groups; tutor training; and tutoring.

4.Provides initial assessment and on-call services to clients with personal concerns and maintains appropriate case documentation,
supervision and evaluation records.
5. Performs clinical assessments and refers individuals to other resources as needed.
6. Develops and conducts outreach seminars, workshops, and programs.
7. May collaborate with other campus departments to create and implement programs for the campus community.
8. Assists in the supervision and training of interns, practicum students, and/or graduate students in counseling.
9.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
EMBEDDED COUNSELOR, Cullen College of Engineering
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

A full-time, benefits-eligible position commencing January 2, 2025.
Minimum qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or Social Work. Licensure is required at time of interview. We welcome applicants who do not have prior counseling center experience provided candidates clearly articulate how their experience in other settings can be translated to a counseling center/higher education setting. The successful candidate will have strong attention and motivation to multicultural competence, demonstrated by awareness of their areas for multicultural growth, an openness to working with a wide range of diverse clients, and the pursuit of continued education.
Desired Qualifications:
Candidates who are three plus years post-licensure and have experience and expertise in one or more of the following areas: diverse range of client presenting concerns and diversity variables, short-term/brief therapy, crisis intervention, and outreach programming.
General responsibilities:
This position is embedded within the Cullen College of Engineering (CCE). The Embedded Counselor (EC) will have a split schedule in which 80 percent of their time will be serving CCE students and 20 percent at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) serving undergraduate and graduate students, staff, and faculty. The EC’s primary responsibility will be providing mental health counseling, consultation, and outreach to the CCE students of the Cullen College of Engineering. The EC will establish and maintain service presence within the College of Engineering, including networking and marketing service availability, assessing, and addressing stigma and barriers to seeking services, and collaborating with administration, faculty, and staff to meet clinical and programmatic needs of the CCE students. Overall, the EC will provide multi-culturally competent individual, couples, and group services within a short-term therapy framework; facilitate mental health workshops; adhere to stepped care principles in assessing a student’s fit for services; perform crisis intervention and assessment and engage in consultation and outreach.
