Department: COE-Grants Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.

Description:

The Project Coordinator - DOE Grant, in cooperation with the Grant Principal Investigators and grant staff manages daily grant operations in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Manages the project's budget and database, assists with grant evaluation collecting participant data, coordinates arrangements for grant activities, and assists with annual performance reports. Funding for this position comes from a Department of Education grant funded for 2025-2026 with the expectation of continued funding through 2029.

Note: This is a grant funded position. Continuation of the position is dependent upon future funding.

Duties:

  • Manages the daily budget needs related to payments and compiles monthly financial reports.
  • Coordinates and participates in arrangements for special events and activities with UHCL staff from across the campus.
  • Prepares written reports including annual grant reports and correspondence.
  • Assists in the coordination and participates in grant recruitment activities.
  • Assists with the grant required data collection and analysis.
  • Designs and coordinates the publication of grant marketing materials.
  • Works collaboratively with high school advisors, teachers and community members to promote the grant activities and summer bridge program and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree
  2. Experience with one or more of the following: academic counseling, student services, student retention, fiscal and data management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Business, Psychology, or Behavioral Sciences.
  • Previous work experience with grants.
  • Experience working with undergraduate student populations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of counseling, advising, and student development theories.
  • Knowledge of higher education recruitment, admissions and advising.                   
  • Knowledge of student engagement and case management including reading and interpreting reports and data.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PeopleSoft and EAB/Navigate.
  • Ability to use Social Media.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, collaborate with others through teamwork.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, attention to details, interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, listening skills, and flexibility.
