Description:

The Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences at the University of Houston invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure track, faculty position in retailing and consumer science at the rank of lecturer.

The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses in branding, consumer behavior, consumer science and other related areas. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses (four classes for Fall and Spring) and engage in service to the community. In addition, the successful applicant is expected to communicate effectively, establish positive working relationships, and contribute to team endeavors, particularly within the program, department, and across disciplines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Teach innovative undergraduate courses in retailing, merchandising, and/or consumer science. The courses will be assigned based on relevant experience, prior coursework, and program needs.
• Mentor undergraduate students, fostering a culture of academic excellence.
• Actively engage in collaborative initiatives within the program, across the university, and with external partners.
• Contribute to creating a collegial and academic environment by participating in program, school, college, and university services.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Retail and Consumer Science or a closely related field and have demonstrated teaching experience. A Ph.D. in Retail and Consumer Science or a closely related field is preferred.
