Department: Human Resources Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education

Description:

Responsible for the overall salary administration function for UH, which includes the design and implementation of salary administration programs, policies and procedures; the day-to-day salary administration function; management reporting; and audit of the program. Works closely with the Asst VP of Human Resources Operations and in support of all Compensation goals.
1. Provides work direction and supervision to a staff of professional and para-professional employees.
2. Designs and develops university-wide pay programs, such as merit and pay equity programs.
3. Provides technical and management oversight of the university's job evaluation and classification system.
4. Oversees the analysis of staffing requests and new hire/promotional salary recommendations.
5. Participates in the preparation of the annual salary budget, which includes the recommended pay structure adjustment and salary increase budget.
6. Assists the Asst VP of HR Operations in the strategic initiatives of Compensation.
7. Oversees the development of a variety of recurring and ad hoc management reports and ensures their accurate and timely preparation.
8. Provides counsel to College and Division managers in compensation-related matters.
9. Provides guidance in FLSA matters and in state and local rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable laws related to compensation.
10. Writes compensation-related policies and procedures.
11. Participates in the administration of the university's performance appraisal system.
12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.

 

Preferred Certifications:  Certified Compensation Professional (CCP)
