Job Summary
The Compliance Coordinator is responsible for supporting institutional compliance to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and University policies. In collaboration with stakeholders, this position will assist in the prevention, detection, and correction of noncompliance; coordinate, and promote awareness of compliance-related initiatives. This role also serves as the coordinator of various department-level compliance activities, including, but not limited to, Continuity of Operations Plans and assessment reports.
Duties
- Assists in the conduct of compliance assessments and collaborates with compliance partners to coordinate policy review and potential revision and prepares detailed reports
- Creates, organizes, and maintains up-to-date records and documentation of compliance activities, files, and findings
- In partnership with UH System counterparts, coordinates mandatory compliance training to ensure that all UHD employees have knowledge of and comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations as well as University and System policies
- Supports developing and delivering print and digital communication materials to enhance employee awareness and understanding of compliance obligations. This includes developing and maintaining web pages; reviewing/revising compliance standards, procedures, and policies; and assisting with managing compliance-related documentation and training materials
- Coordinates intra-departmental projects as assigned
- Oversees the collection, presentation, and submission of data for departmental projects, Continuity of Operations Plans, assessment reports, and calendars
- Serves as UHD’s Privacy Coordinator, ensuring compliance with SAM 01.D.06 Protection of Confidential Information
- Stays informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards that may impact the UHD Compliance program
- Monitors relevant statutes, regulations, and rules that impact compliance initiatives and brings them to the attention of the Chief Compliance Officer
- Collaborates and supports other internal regulatory teams and offices in their identification, tracking, and monitoring of risks
- Participates in compliance-related projects and initiatives, working closely with team members to achieve project goals
- Intakes, investigates and reports on allegations of noncompliance received
- Oversees the Minors on Campus program, coordinating all compliance-related activities, including training, background checks, and certification of all individuals and programs that host minors
- Stays informed about changes in laws, regulations, and industry standards that may impact the UHD Compliance program
- Monitors relevant statutes, regulations, and rules that impact compliance initiatives and brings them to the attention of the Chief Compliance Officer

Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of higher education compliance requirements including, but not limited to FERPA, HIPAA, GLB, Clery, Equal Opportunity, Title IX, ADA/ADAAA, and Youth Protection
- Understanding of industry protocols and best practices

Primary Work Location:
- Works in an office environment
Physical Demands:
- Work is performed in a typical, comfortable interior work environment that does not subject the employee to any unpleasant elements. The individual has discretion in relation to walking, standing, etc., and has minimal exposure to physical risks
Qualifications
Required Education:
Required Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of related job experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
License/Certification:
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of related job experience in compliance, legal, audit, or in a related industry
