    Adjunct, Communication Studies

    Job Description:

    The University of Houston-Downtown Department of Arts and Communication seeks qualified and committed instructors for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Communication Studies.

    We seek professionals who can serve as a generalist of communication studies with the ability to teach a wide breadth of communication studies courses. Successful candidates will be able to teach core courses such as Introduction to Communication and Public Speaking as well as contribute to one or more of our concentration areas: media and public communication, health and relational communication, or organizational communication.

    Teaching opportunities will be offered in-person, hybrid, and/or fully online. Adjunct faculty should expect to be asked to teach on campus up to two times per week and will be offered online opportunities as they are available. For online teaching, experience teaching in Canvas LMS is advantageous.

    Adjunct faculty are eligible for benefits if they teach three or more 16-week sections in a semester.

    Required Qualifications: 

    • MA in Communication Studies
    • College-level teaching experience

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • PhD in Communication Studies
