Description:
The Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Professor position in Creative Writing in Spanish, beginning Fall 2025. We seek a dynamic scholar and writer with expertise in creative writing in Spanish, a strong publication record, and a commitment to innovative teaching.
Responsibilities:
Teach creative writing courses in Spanish at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Mentor and advise students.
Contribute to curriculum development and program initiatives.
Maintain an active publication record.
Engage in departmental and university service.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Creative Writing, Hispanic Literature, or a related field by the time of appointment.
Demonstrated experience in creative writing (fiction, poetry, nonfiction, or hybrid genres) in Spanish.
A strong record of publications in recognized literary venues.
Evidence of excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Ability to teach a variety of creative writing courses in Spanish, including workshops and literature courses with a creative component as well as language courses.
Preferred qualifications include experience incorporating AI and other innovative methods in creative writing pedagogy.
