Department: Police Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education

Description:

Receives emergency and non-emergency requests from the University community and dispatches calls to University Police Officers utilizing the computer aided dispatch system as the primary mode of operation.

1. Responds to requests for service, information and other business that comes into the Police Department by telephone, emergency all box or made in person at the public service window.

2. Transmits requests for service and related information to the appropriate Police Officer.

3. Inputs information into a computer database; reviews and corrects data as necessary.

4. Monitors campus fire and burglar alarm systems, acknowledges triggered alarms, and dispatches officers when needed.

5. Operates radio consoles, portable radios, Dictaphone recorder, Telecopier, and other equipment located in the Communication Center.

6. Issues equipment and supplies such as radios, batteries and keys to department personnel and maintains related records.

7. May provide guidance and training to new dispatchers.

8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.

Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year directly-related job experience. Certification/Licensing: Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job, as specified on the job posting details.

*Prefer 2 years directly-related job experience. Intermediate Telecommunicator Certification through TCLEOSE

Requires technical certification or licensing directly related to the job. Basic or Intermediate Telecommunicator Certification through TCOLE

Must pass Computerized Criminal History Check, Background Investigation and Drug Testing prior to employment.
