Description:

Manages the day-to-day operations of a large university program or department, including the supervision of staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.

1. Plans and develops procedures for administering a large or complex department or program.
2. Manages fiscal activities, including procurement and budget analysis.
3. Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
4. Prepares abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
5. Creates and reviews reports of expenditures and activities.
6. May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
7. Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
8. May serve as property custodian for the department.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Posting Information:
This position is with the University of Houston's Small Business Development Center (SBDC), an off-campus program of the UH Bauer College that provides business advising and training assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners. The ideal candidate for the position will preferably be bilingual (English/Spanish); This position involves working with English and Spanish speaking trainers and class participants.

Ideal Candidate will possess:
• Knowledge of elements of proper instructional designs that relate to adult learners
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Know Principles of business including marketing, finance, management, social media, etc.
• Computer savvy to design PowerPoint presentations on a variety of small business topics
• Marketing know-how to advertise and promote educational events as well as create marketing pieces in Canva
• Public speaking experience
• Must have ease and confidence to attend networking events to recruit trainers and speakers
• Must have creativity to plan new and exciting events that will attract the business community
• Must be able to work within a team setting
• Must be able to respond quickly in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to provide exceptional customer service

Notes to Applicant: This position is with the University of Houston's Small Business Development Center (SBDC), an off-campus program of the UH Bauer College that provides business advising and training assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners. The SBDC program is funded through a cooperative agreement with the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the State of Texas. The continuation of all SBDC positions are contingent on the continuation of funding from both the SBA and the State of Texas at current levels.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
