Description:

UHCL is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Pilates Group Fitness Instructor to lead engaging and challenging classes for our diverse community. The ideal candidate will inspire participants of all fitness levels to improve their core strength, flexibility, and posture while fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Class Instruction: Lead Pilates classes that incorporate a variety of exercises designed to enhance core strength, flexibility, balance, and overall fitness, while ensuring a fun and motivating environment.
  • Participant Engagement: Foster a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging participants to enjoy themselves, challenge their bodies, and stay committed to their fitness goals.
  • Class Planning: Develop and organize class routines that cater to different skill levels and abilities, ensuring safety, inclusivity, and proper technique.
  • Fitness Assessments: Assess participants' fitness levels and provide modifications and progressions to accommodate individual needs.
  • Community Building: Create a supportive community among participants, promoting camaraderie and encouragement.
  • Feedback & Improvement: Solicit feedback from participants to continually improve class offerings and enhance the participant experience.
  • Promote Wellness: Advocate for overall health and wellness, encouraging participants to integrate fitness into their daily lives.
  • Maintain Equipment: Ensure all Pilates equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and in good working condition.
  • Stay Updated: Keep current with Pilates trends and fitness industry standards through ongoing education and training.

Qualifications:

  1. Certification: Group Fitness Instructor Certification (e.g., through companies such as NASM, ACE, etc.).
  2. Experience: Previous experience teaching Pilates group fitness classes is required.
  3. Passion for Fitness: A genuine enthusiasm for Pilates and helping others achieve their health and wellness goals.
  4. Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire participants.
  5. Adaptability: Ability to adjust routines based on class dynamics and participant feedback.
  6. CPR/AED Certification: Current CPR and AED certification is a plus. If not certified, be willing to become certified within six weeks via UHCL Campus Recreation.
