Description:

Position Summary:
The Student Computer Lab Assistant at the UHD Kingwood Location to assist the Distance Education Department. The ideal candidate possesses strong customer service and communication skills, is self-motivated, and has a working knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, and general computer hardware and software. Evening and split-shift availability is required.

Job Description:

  • Monitors the operation of the general computer lab.
  • Assists with Software installations if needed.
  • Greets students as they come into the general computer area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides data entry for the Service Desk Ticketing System.
  • Provide first Tier technical support to students and faculty.
  • Perform opening and/or closing procedures; and other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must have good telephone etiquette and good customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Internet browsers; MS office Professional suite and other applications.
  • Solve basic routine Software and Hardware issues as necessary.
  • Must be a self-starter in exercising initiative with the ability to get things done by performing daily tasks effectively.
  • Must be able to work evening shift(4pm 9 pm) and/or split shift.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least one year of experience
  • Must be a UHD Student


Preference will be given to students who are eligible for and participating in the Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program.
All currently enrolled UHD students who meet the minimum qualifications are encouraged to apply.
