Internship opportunity: Copyediting for a prominent academic journal.
The editorial staff of Technical Communication Quarterly, a reputable academic journal in technical communication, is seeking a part-time (5–10 hours per week) copyediting intern to assist with preparing manuscripts for publication. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the publishing industry and to gain some professional experience. This internship is a paid position. Interns will work closely with the journal’s managing editor.
Job duties:
The intern will be responsible for light copy editing manuscripts after they have been accepted for publication. This includes ensuring correct spelling and grammar (as per the Chicago Manual of Style), house style, and APA formatting of citations. Depending on the flow of manuscripts, some weeks will require only 5 hours of time while others require 10. Hours are flexible, but you must be willing and able to dedicate 10 hours per week.

A copyediting test will be administered prior to conducting interviews. All interns hired for this position will undergo further training as well as a mandatory background check. Interns cannot be compensated for work completed over the weekend and/or when the university is closed.
