Description:

Student Leadership and Involvement (SLI) is seeking a dependable, engaged student to support daily operations in the Student Lounge and throughout the department. This role provides a unique opportunity to develop leadership, communication, and administrative skills in a dynamic, student-centered environment.

DUTIES

  • Greets and assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner
  • Monitors the Student Lounge to ensure a clean, safe, and inclusive space by enforcing lounge policies and performing light cleaning duties as needed
  • Supports Locker Rental Program and equipment check-outs
  • Answers department phone lines, takes accurate messages, and provides general information
  • Performs clerical tasks, including copying, scanning, filing, distributing mail, and data entry
  • Assists with the preparation and execution of SLI-sponsored events, workshops, and student organization initiatives
  • Runs errands to various departments and locations on campus
  • Assists with social media content creation or student engagement efforts as needed
  • Opens and closes the lounge area, ensuring all emergency and safety protocols are followed
  • Participates in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Available to work 20 hours a week, Monday–Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM-8:00 PM
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally with students, faculty, and staff
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); comfort with digital tools and platforms is a plus
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable learning new tasks and taking initiative
  • Positive Attitude and Professional Experience
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform light physical tasks, including event setup
  • Perform opening and closing procedures and follow all UHD emergency procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a current UHD student
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher
