Description:
The Student Research Assistant will be critical in supporting faculty research across the college.
This position is designed to enhance academic productivity by providing research support to eligible faculty members upon request. The assistant will also support internal reporting efforts and data organization in alignment with college operational needs. Ideal candidates will possess a mix of research literacy, technological proficiency, and professional communication skills.
Duties:
• Assist faculty with literature reviews using AI-assisted tools such as Scispace, Elicit, and Google Scholar
• Support faculty in compiling, organizing, and formatting research materials and data
• Perform basic data entry and analysis using Excel or other spreadsheet tools
• Assist in drafting or formatting research reports, presentations, and supporting documents
• Help develop and organize content for annual internal college reports, including
aggregating data from multiple sources
• Collaborate with faculty and staff on ad hoc academic and research-related projects
• Use Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) for ideation, synthesis, summarization, or writing support where appropriate and approved
• Maintain organized electronic filing systems of research documents and sources
• Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
• Perform other duties as assigned to support academic and operational functions
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Professionalism: Must demonstrate responsibility, punctuality, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and academic integrity
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
• Research Fluency: Students must be familiar with Google Scholar and AI-assisted literature review tools (e.g., Scispace, Elicit)
• Technology Proficiency: Must be comfortable using Excel or similar spreadsheet tools (minimum skill level: 5 out of 10)
• Generative AI Skills: Experience using tools like ChatGPT or similar for academic or
operational support
• Organization: Must be able to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Adaptability: Must work under pressure, follow detailed instructions, and quickly adjust to new tools and tasks
• Dress Code: Business casual attire is required while on duty
Qualifications:
• Must be a current UHD student
• Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher
