Description:
Supervises or leads the work of maintenance mechanics in the maintenance and repair of building facilities and servicing of common mechanical and electrical devices. May function in a highly skilled craft capacity with no supervisory responsibility.
Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
1. Schedules and inspects work of maintenance mechanics.
2. Establishes a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment and facilities.
3. Orders supplies and materials and maintains adequate inventory levels.
4. May interview and hire other maintenance personnel.
5. Performs the duties of a maintenance mechanic as required.
6. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:
o Previous engineering maintenance experience in a hotel is preferred.
Additional Duties:
o Be available to handle emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect guests, associates, and students, and preserve the building and its systems.
o Respond quickly and responsibly to restore the building to its normal operating status during emergencies and notify Engineering Management of such incidents.
o Understand and address guest inquiries professionally, ensuring clear communication and timely resolutions.
o Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance, even under pressure, while working on projects.
Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
MQ: Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
