Description:

The History Department at the University of Houston seeks applications for a 9-month, benefits-eligible Lecturer position to teach undergraduate U.S. History courses in the 2025-26 Academic Year. Job duties will include teaching four (4) History courses each semester in 2025-2026.

Responsibilities in Fall 2025 will be two Face-to-Face sections of HIST 1302 (US History since 1877) and two online Asynchronous sections of HIST 1301 (US History to 1877) in the regular session. Section size in all cases will be 300 undergraduate students; all sections will have Teaching Assistant support.

Responsibilities for Spring 2026 will be two Face-to-Face sections of HIST 1302 (US History since 1877) with a quota of 300 in each (with TA support) in the regular term; one small section of HIST 1301 (US History to 1877), with a quota of 35, in the Winter Mini session; and a fourth course to be determined by the department chair to fulfill curricular/student needs.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD in History awarded no later than July 2025.
