Description:

The Interpreting and Translation (INTN) Program at the University of Houston is hiring part-time non-tenure track Lecturers for classroom instruction (day or evening) on an as needed basis. This program (formerly named the ASLI program) trains students to be conversationally fluent in American Sign Language and focuses on preparing interpreters for real-world interactions.

Content areas of particular need are American Sign Language levels 1-4 and interpreting/translation pedagogy. Students enrolled in our courses benefit from our on-campus language lab, a part-time language coach, community events sponsored by the ASL Society student organization and a separate lab for student research.

Applicants should provide a letter of interest, a list of at least 3 professional references and a current curriculum vitae. Applicants should also provide a shareable link to a 3-5 minute video using ASL describing their teaching philosophy and qualifications. 

Qualifications
For lecturer positions in the INTN program, the Communication Sciences and Disorders department requires a minimum of a Master's degree with three or more years of teaching experience. Proficiency in both using and understanding variations of American Sign Language is required. ASLTA, BEI Advanced/Master, or RID certification is preferred. Professional references will be contacted.
