The Department of Natural Sciences (NS) at the University of Houston-Downtown is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of full-time Lecturer in Biology starting Fall 2026. The position is a 9-month renewable appointment.
This full-time position will entail teaching 15 contact hours per semester which is typically five classes. The primary responsibilities will include teaching lower-level biology courses for science and non-science majors. Upper-level courses may be assigned based on the individuals’ areas of expertise and departmental needs. Additional duties include participation in the ongoing program assessment and contributing to the department’s overall instructional mission through involvement in curriculum development and programmatic improvement. In specific cases, minor service activities may be included in the appointment with a concomitant reduction in teaching load, at the discretion of the department chairperson.

Applicants are not required to submit reference letters with the initial application. However, candidates selected for further consideration will be asked to arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent directly to the Search Committee Chair at a later stage in the process.
