Description:

The Department of Information Science Technology at the University of Houston (UH) is accepting applications for a full-time lecturer position in the Digital Media Program to begin in Fall 2025.

We seek a colleague who can contribute to the success and growth of the program, and has an excellent record of scholarly research that informs their ability to teach undergraduate-level courses in User Experience Research, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Gaming and Simulation. We welcome applicants with a diversity of research/teaching interests that complement those of our current faculty members and encourage collaboration throughout the department. Experience working with mobile technologies, web interfaces, database/information systems, cybersecurity systems, conversational agents/bots, augmented/virtual reality technologies, and/or artificial intelligence technologies is preferred. Preferred applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Information Science or a related Digital Media/Technology discipline.

Candidates should have experience teaching in both face-to-face and 100% online formats at the undergraduate level. Ideally, candidates will have a demonstrable record of teaching both large lecture seminars and incorporating applied/hands-on learning experiences in smaller lab sections. Candidates should demonstrate an openness to innovative instructional strategies, a willingness for continuous professional development, and a continuous improvement plan to stay abreast of industry needs in curriculum design and delivery.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Appointments are made on 1-year contract basis and salary is commensurate with experience. The responsibilities include (1) a 4/4 teaching load of undergraduate courses relevant to the Digital Media program and (2) contributing to service tasks as required in the program.

Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidate. All positions at the University of Houston-System are security sensitive and will require a criminal history check.

The University of Houston System and its universities are an Equal Opportunity Institution.
