The Department of Natural Sciences (NS) at the University of Houston-Downtown is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of full-time Lecturer in Biology starting January 2025. The position is a 9-month renewable appointment.

This full-time position will entail teaching 15 contact hours per semester which is typically five classes. The primary responsibilities will include teaching lower-level biology courses for science and non-science majors. Upper-level courses may be assigned based on the individuals’ areas of expertise and departmental needs. Applicants should be able to provide educational experiences for UHD's diverse student population. Additional duties include participation in the ongoing program assessment and contributing to the department’s overall instructional mission through involvement in curriculum development and programmatic improvement. A lecturer is expected to carry out all basic service duties and may choose to be involved to varying extents (participation, engagement, or leadership) in additional activities beyond their basic duties.

Required Qualifications:

• Must have at least a MS in Biology or related field

Preferred experience:

• MS in Biology or a related field
• A minimum of three years of teaching undergraduate courses in the biological sciences relevant to job posting
• Evidence of utilizing diverse teaching and learning pedagogical approaches
• Proficiency in instructional technology, online instruction, and effective course design in a variety of course modalities
• Evidence of professional development or teaching award
• Knowledge of and/or experience in program assessment activities
