Instructional Assistant Professor - Biological Sciences

Description:

The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invite applications for an Instructional Assistant Professor, to begin Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching three sections of lecture courses that may include first year biology for science majors or for non-science majors, in a highly collaborative setting. The position may also entail some shared administrative work. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track appointment with an opportunity for renewal and promotion. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline awarded by July 1, 2025.

Successful candidates will demonstrate broad training, skills in contemporary pedagogy, a strong interest in teaching and a willingness to contribute to the development of student success initiatives and undergraduate programs in the biological sciences. Experience with classroom teaching and course development are highly desirable. Experience with lab course management and instruction are also a plus. 

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant biological discipline and should demonstrate strong academic training, a deep passion and commitment to undergraduate education and evidence-based pedagogy, and a willingness to contribute to student success initiatives and curriculum development in the biological sciences. Classroom teaching experience is highly desirable.
