The University of Houston's Moores School of Music in the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts seeks a non-tenure track Instructional Assistant Professor - Athletic Band Director. This is a full-time, 11-month position that begins Fall of 2025.

The position will serve as an Associate Director of Bands working with the Director of Bands in all aspects of the program. Primary responsibilities will include leading The Spirit of Houston Cougar Marching Band, Cougar Brass, and Spirit Teams, conducting the Symphonic Band, and assisting in recruitment and engagement for the University of Houston Band Program. Other duties may be assigned based on experience, including academic courses related to band, music education, and conducting. Further responsibilities may encompass providing service to the university community and the profession. This position is considered a teaching position, with a workload distribution of and is loaded at 80% teaching and 20% service to the institution.

Qualifications
PhD or DMA preferred is preferred. MM in Wind Conducting, Music Education, or similar with equivalent professional experience required. Evidence of professional success and exceptional teaching are essential. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with marching band and collegiate spirit groups within Power Four conference settings (e.g., Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC) settings.
