Description:

Launch Your HR Career at UHD.

Looking to build real-world experience while still in school? Join the Office of Human Resources and get a front-row seat to how a dynamic workplace supports its people. This is more than a student job—it’s an opportunity to explore the many sides of Human Resources while developing skills you’ll take into your future career.

We’re hiring multiple student workers, and your experience will be shaped by your interests, strengths, career goals, and departmental needs.

What You’ll Do

As part of the HR team, you’ll perform a variety of functions, including:

  • Being the face of HR by welcoming students, employees, and campus visitors
  • Supporting daily operations by answering calls and guiding inquiries
  • Learning the fundamentals of HR services, including benefits, payroll, hiring, and records and responding to customer inquiries
  • Working with real HR systems to scan, file, organize, and audit confidential documents
  • Designing flyers, posters, and promotional materials using tools like Canva
  • Managing inventory and coordinating orders for office and promotional supplies
  • Playing a key role in major campus events like New Employee Orientation, Staff Development Conference, Boo Bash (UHD’s Annual Benefits Fair), and others
  • Participating in trainings and professional development opportunities designed to grow your skills
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

What You’ll Gain

This role is designed to help you launch your career, not just earn a paycheck. Through this experience you will gain:

  • Hands-on experience across multiple HR functions
  • Exposure to professional tools and systems used in today’s workplace
  • Development of highly transferable skills—communication, organization, and project coordination
  • Insight into how HR drives employee engagement and organizational success
  • Opportunities to connect with HR professionals and build your network
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Our team is seeking an individual who is:
  • Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented;
  • Eager to learn and willing to take initiative;
  • Possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • Is comfortable using Microsoft Office and learning new digital tools.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position, you must:

  • Be a current UHD student;
  • Be awarded Work-Study from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid;
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0; and
  • Have the ability to work on campus during business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM), with a schedule that can be arranged around your classes
  • Preferred: be a student majoring in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field

Why Join Us?

We’re committed to student growth, collaboration, and innovation. You won’t just support the team—you’ll be part of it. If you’re curious about HR, eager to learn, and ready to gain meaningful experience that sets you apart after graduation, we’d love to meet you.
