Salary: $18.32- $27.50
Description:
Maintains, inspects, and services fire safety systems in and around University of Houston buildings, including extinguishers, hood suppression systems, fire hydrants, and fire hoses. Keeps detailed records of all maintenance performed.
1. Conducts periodic inspections, testing and maintenance of fire safety systems, including extinguishers, fire hoses and fire hydrants.
2. Maintains documentation of inspections, maintenance and service performed on fire safety systems.
3. Oversees hydrostatic testing of extinguisher cylinders and refills by outside contractors.
4. Oversees the inspection of fixed kitchen hood systems and testing of fire sprinklers systems by outside contractors.
5. Conducts monthly fire drills at all campus child/day-care facilities.
6. Responds to fire alarm calls and assists with other emergency situations as needed.
7. Educates staff, faculty and students on fire safety and the use of fire extinguishers.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires specialized training in basic trades, principles, procedures, practice, routines or techniques in a specific area or trade which might normally be acquired through up to 18 months of education or training beyond the high school level. Vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment may be required.
Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.
