Department: Local Custodial Services Salary: Commensurate with Experience/Education

Description:

Under minimal supervision, performs general cleaning duties referring more complex issues to appropriate person for resolution. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

1. Sweeps, mops and scrubs floors, stairs and other surfaces inside and outside buildings.

2. Vacuums carpet in offices, rooms and public areas; scrubs, strips, refinishes, waxes, and buffs floors using powered scrubber and buffer; shampoos carpet and rugs using shampooing machine.

3. Empties wastebaskets, pencil sharpeners, smoking urns, ashtrays, etc. into containers or plastic bags; replaces liners in wastebaskets; places trash in collection area for removal.

4. Wipes, dusts and/or polishes furniture, fixtures, glass doors and windows, door trims, etc.

5. Wipes and scrubs sinks, toilets and tiles; removes supplies from janitorial closet and replenishes soaps, towels, toilet paper, etc.

6. Maintains adequate supplies in janitorial closet; may assist in ordering supplies and materials.

7. Provides hands on training to new employees.

8. Notifies Area Lead and/or Supervisors about safety issues or maintenance needs.

9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires the ability to read, write and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.

Six (6) months of job related experience is required.
