Description:

The Confidential Advocate, Sexual Misconduct Support Services (SMSS) provides support

services for individuals impacted by sexual misconduct, including University of Houston

students, staff, and faculty. Contributes to sexual misconduct education and awareness

efforts for the UH community and maintains relationships with various campus and

community partners.

Responsibilities

1. Provide support services and crisis intervention to individuals impacted by sexual

misconduct, including complainants/survivors and respondents/accused. Support

services include emotional support, resource provision, and case management.

2. Work with Equal Opportunity Services and other campus partners to coordinate

support services and referrals.

3. Manage and maintain a regular case load and accompanying documentation; provide

regular reports to supervisor.

4. Assist with educational workshops and trainings related to sexual misconduct.

5. Engage and assist with outreach efforts to promote awareness of SMSS, including

prevention programming.

6. Assist with the development, maintenance, and distribution of resources and

materials for the campus community.

7. Serve on committees related to sexual misconduct prevention, education, and

support.

8. Participate in professional development and training opportunities.

9. Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed and 1 year of job-related experience.
