Clinical Assistant Professor, Urban Education

Description:
This Clinical Assistant Professor position coordinates all field-based clinical coaches, organizes field-based clinical experiences for teacher candidates, and facilitates partnership efforts among the Department of Urban Education, University, district partners, and accrediting entities to further teacher candidates’ work in the field with goals of graduation and certification.
DUTIES
- Oversees applications, routines, and processes for teacher candidates’ professional development semesters
- Coordinates field placements with district partners
- Collaborates with advisory team members in support of field-based programs
- Facilitates work of clinical coaches with partner districts
- In collaboration with department chair, hires for and staffs fieldwork courses and creates payroll for adjuncts to be offered to the Department Business Administrator
- Reviews and updates department policies and fieldwork documents to ensure compliance with standards of Texas Education Agency (TEA)

- Performs tasks related to specific department/college
- Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct reports: May supervise part-time fieldwork adjuncts (clinical coaches)
- Delegation of work: May regularly assign work to subordinate(s)
- Supervision given: May make decisions on hiring field-based adjuncts (clinical coaches) in collaboration with department chair; provides recommendations for scheduling of field-based adjuncts (clinical coaches)
Qualifications
- An earned master’s degree in curriculum/instruction, educational administration, or a closely related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in PK-12 educational administration
- Experience in field-based teacher education programs
- Experience in teaching and/or working in a university setting
- Experience in creating/leading professional development for university students or teachers
- Knowledge of standards for Texas Education Agency (TEA)
