The Department of Psychological, Health, and Learning Sciences at the University of Houston seeks a promotion-eligible, non-tenure-track, Clinical Assistant Professor of Health to serve our undergraduate programs.

The Department has seen rapid growth in demand for the undergraduate Health degree and is seeking full-time faculty to support student learning and success in the program. Priority areas of experience for this position are in community health, health promotion, public health, health disparities, environmental health, global health, and/or chronic disease (i.e., cancer, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, obesity, substance use/abuse, etc.) prevention and intervention with the ability to teach a range of courses within the program (i.e., public health, program planning, health care administration, research methods). Responsibilities: Primary teaching responsibilities include expert teaching through face-to-face, online, or hybrid delivery of courses in the undergraduate programs. A successful candidate will also participate in course and program development, supervision of teaching assistants, community outreach activities, and service to the Department, College, University, and profession.

Appointment: This is a nine-month appointment. Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date is Fall 2025. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications and experience and will include benefits. Qualifications

Priority will be placed on applicants who (a) hold a doctoral degree in public health, health promotion, health psychology, or a closely related health discipline, (b) ground in applied health settings to include the identification and implementation of evidence-based interventions and assessments, and (c) demonstrate a history of teaching/coaching in health that leads to student success.
