Description:
This Chief Development Officer will be responsible for the College of Medicine, Pharmacy, Optometry, Nursing, and Social Work.
The Chief Development Officer will lead a high performing fundraising Unit that will include team members from Colleges and/or Programs along with managing the annual business plan including defined gift strategies and goals linked to the Campaign strategic priorities of the College/Programs. The Chief Development Officer will be charged with establishing, refining and realizing a mission-maximizing strategy for fundraising. The Chief Development Officer will need to serve as a superb leader and manager, with an ability to motivate, inspire and manage a team of development professionals as well as a group of dedicated Campaign volunteers.
1. Supervise, lead, motivate and evaluate a high-caliber team in order to assure consistency, quality, accountability and performance metrics are achieved.
2. Build strong and mutually beneficial relationships among the Deans, Academic leadership, Advancement leadership, faculty and staff.
3. Organizes and implements the Development efforts for the overall Unit including multiple Colleges and/or Programs.
4. Manage a portfolio of the Unit's top donors and prospective donors with responsibility to meet an annual personal fundraising goal.
5. Motivate and inspire team to aggressively grow the pipeline of donors to fully support a robust major gifts program within the Unit.
6. Ensure the Unit's combined, annual team goal is achieved and monitor closely for completion of overall Campaign goal.
7. Provide oversight for the Unit's Campaign Volunteer Council along with support as needed to individual College volunteer groups within the Unit, focused to ensure each volunteer has an engagement plan that includes responsibilities with accountability metrics for fundraising.
8. Work in close collaboration with Associate Vice President, Development in creating fundraising internal and external processes as related to team's work, identifying and implementing best practices to support a comprehensive, winning major gifts fundraising program.
9. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of job-related experience. At least five (5) in a management role.
