      Description:

      The Department of Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a Program Director position in the Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering program. This is a full-time faculty appointment at the Associate or Full Professor rank, with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. Rank will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, experience, and accomplishments.

      Located adjacent to NASA’s Johnson Space Center and numerous major aerospace and engineering industry partners, UHCL welcomed its first cohort of students into the Aerospace Engineering B.S. program in Fall 2025, with expectations for steady enrollment growth in the coming years. The Aerospace Engineering program is housed within the Department of Engineering, which currently offers five additional undergraduate and graduate programs (B.S. and M.S.).

      Duties:

      In addition to traditional faculty responsibilities in teaching, research, and service, the successful candidate will provide academic leadership for the program, oversee program administration, including course scheduling and curriculum coordination, lead and manage ABET accreditation and continuous improvement activities, support student recruitment, retention, and success, collaborate effectively with faculty and administrators within the department, college, and university, and foster partnerships with external organizations, including industry and government agencies.

      Qualifications:

      Required: 

      • An earned Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field
      • Excellence in teaching Aerospace Engineering with an emphasis in undergrad instruction
      • An established record of research excellence in aerospace engineering
      • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage an academic program, including curriculum development
      • Evidence of success in securing external funding and advising undergraduate and/or graduate students
      • Demonstrated academic or administrative leadership potential
      • Demonstrated experience with ABET accreditation

      Preferred:

      • Previous industry experience, particularly in aerospace-related fields
      • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
      • A demonstrated commitment to serving various student populations and student success initiatives
