Description:

The Moores School of Music at the University of Houston seeks candidates for a musicology position at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) level. Applicants with expertise in the long nineteenth century especially are encouraged to apply. Those with expertise in other research areas of musicology are also welcome to submit materials. This is a full-time, 9-month position that begins Fall 2025.

The teaching load for this position (2/2) will include an annual undergraduate survey and undergraduate and graduate courses in music. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an active program of scholarly research and publication as well as participate on committees and supervise student research. All faculty at the Moores School of Music contribute, through teaching as well as through a combination of research and service, to the McGovern College's objective to foster an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum and to offer interdisciplinary experiences for its students.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in musicology. (ABD considered, but completion of the doctoral degree is required by the start of the Fall 2025 semester.) Evidence of scholarly potential/achievement and successful teaching experience is essential.
