The Cullen College of Engineering's Department of Information Science Technology at the University of Houston (UH) seeks qualified candidates for a full-time, tenure-track, position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026.
The preferred candidate must possess outstanding academic credentials that clearly demonstrate the ability to conduct successful research in emerging digital media. A Ph.D. in a relevant field of Information Science/Systems, Computer Science/Engineering, or Communication/Digital Media is required, and a strong background and experience working with artificial intelligence systems, machine learning algorithms, augmented/virtual reality technologies, robotics, and/or high-performance computing. Research into these technologies could encompass both the design and construction of these technologies, as well as the implications of these systems.
We seek a colleague who can contribute to the success and growth of our program and must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking research agenda that will secure competitive external funding.
The Department of Information Sciences Technology (IST), located at the Sugar Land campus, is a dynamic unit within the Cullen College of Engineering. IST offers innovative programs in Digital Media, Computer Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Technology Leadership and Innovation Engineering, Virtual/Augmented Reality, and User Experience Design. Our location provides extensive opportunities for industry collaboration, including partnerships with the Texas Medical Center, energy sector, and NASA Johnson Space Center. Our new state-of-the-art building at the Sugar Land campus houses two National Centers of Excellence Cybersecurity laboratories, a Medical Imaging Lab, two fully equipped recording studios, and an eSports facility, available for research and teaching activities.
