Department: Biology Salary: Commensurate with experience

Description:

The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in computational structural biology, with a focus on molecular simulation and drug discovery. We seek candidates who develop and apply advanced computational approaches—including molecular dynamics, AI/ML-enhanced modeling, and integrative structural biology methods—to understand biomolecular structure, dynamics, and interactions. Particular interest will be given to applicants whose research aims to use computational and AIML-enhanced modeling to design and validate new biomolecular targets for therapeutic development against chronic diseases such as cancer, inflammation, and neurodegeneration.

The successful candidate will join the Division of Biochemistry, one of the three divisions in the Department, which fosters a collaborative environment with strengths in structural biology, cancer biochemistry, computational biology, and signaling. Faculty benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, high-performance computing resources, and opportunities for collaboration across the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, other colleges, and Texas institutions. UH’s location near the Texas Medical Center, the world’s largest medical complex, provides additional biomedical research opportunities.

The Department of Biology and Biochemistry provides state-of-the-art laboratory space within the Science and Engineering Research Center (SERC), access to advanced core facilities, and abundant opportunities for collaboration within the university and with nearby institutions, including the Texas Medical Center, of which UH is a member.

Application materials must include: 1) Cover letter, 2) Curriculum vitae, 3) Research statement (maximum 4 pages), 4) Teaching and mentoring statement (maximum 2 pages), 5) Three representative publications; and 6) Contact information for at least three references.

Qualifications: PhD in Related Field

Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

The university is responsive to the needs of dual-career couples.
