Description:

The Department of Computer Science at the University of Houston (www.cs.uh.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Candidates working on theoretical or practical aspect of research related to Affective Computing and Human-Centered AI are encouraged to apply. This position is part of the Presidential Frontier Faculty (PFF) initiative. 

The department is seeking exceptional candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. Candidates must demonstrate an outstanding scholarly record of research, exhibited by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a forward-looking, vigorous research agenda that will secure competitive, external funding as Principal Investigator (PI). The anticipated start date for this position is September 1, 2025. Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in computer science, computer engineering, mathematics, or a closely related scientific field.

The department currently has a strong emphasis on research that fundamental and applied computer science with cross-cutting applications related to AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, high-performance computing, data science, natural language processing, graphics, visualization, biomedical and healthcare computing, and much more! Research in the department is and has been funded by numerous agencies, including the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the U.S. Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Justice, Energy, and Transportation.
