Description:
The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) at the University of Houston invites applications for tenure-track Presidential Frontier Faculty (PFF) candidates at the assistant or associate professor level with exceptional skills for inspiring, teaching, and cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in Energy Transition Innovations through Process Systems Engineering and Optimization. The Presidential Frontier Faculty program is a university-wide integrated interdisciplinary hiring campaign that is overseen by central university leadership and encompasses hiring a large cohort of convergence research faculty to work on energy, health, sustainability, and security.
University: The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized the University of Houston as a research university with very high research activities. UH enjoys strong ties as a full member of the Texas Medical Center. Department: The IE Department has 15 full-time faculty and approximately 350 students in programs leading to bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The department has recently embarked on an exciting period of research growth as well as student enrollment growth. Opportunities exist for collaboration with several departments in the College, University, and local community in the areas of energy, power systems, resilience, smart city & sustainability, and manufacturing.
City of Houston: The University's 600-acre campus is only a short drive from downtown Houston, the fourth-largest city in the nation. In addition to being the energy capital of the world, the Houston metropolitan area can boast of leading consulting engineers, construction, oil servicing, computer, telecommunication, and biomedical companies, as well as NASA's Johnson Space Center and the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. Greater Houston is a modern, rapidly growing, and economically thriving region. It has a full spectrum of cultural activities, as well as sports and outdoor activities.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. degree in industrial engineering or a closely related field. The candidate is expected to develop and foster nationally recognized, cross-disciplinary research programs. Successful applicants must demonstrate a record of developing and maintaining a vigorous research program, sustaining a strong record of peer-reviewed publication, external funding, advising students, and teaching innovation.
