Description:
Oversees academic support services and wellness initiatives for medical students at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, ensuring alignment with policies and accreditation standards. Responsibilities include providing individualized academic and wellness support, fostering student success, and collaborating with faculty, staff, and external partners to promote well-being. The position reports to the Director of Academic Support.
1. Manages academic support services by leading the Office of Academic Support in providing personalized academic advising and guidance to medical students; recruits, trains and supervises academic support services staff.
2. Supports wellness initiatives and collaborates with counseling services, spiritual life, and community providers to ensure comprehensive mental health resources.
3. Develops and implements strategies to improve student retention, academic performance and engagement. Tracks outcomes and prepares ad-hoc reports as needed.
4. Designs and facilitates workshops, seminars, and academic interventions and assists in training peer tutors.
5. Ensures compliance and accreditation by aligning academic support programs with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
6. Collaborates with marketing teams in the creation of materials that encourage students to use academic support services.
7. Performs other tasks as needed for academic support services and student success initiatives.
MQ: Education: Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
